We currently have two clinics; based in Holmfirth and Hathersage, providing care to clients across West Yorkshire, The Peak district, and the wider Derbyshire area.

Our Clinical Psychologists
Dr Lucy Hughes
Clinical Director/ Clinical Psychologist
Lucy has worked in mental health services for a number of years. Her passion has always been about understanding and working with people. She has an empathetic and calm approach to her work, and has a genuine interest and love for psychology. Her first degree set the scene with in-depth study of societal issues. Knowing she then wanted to work in a caring and therapeutic profession Lucy went on to do a masters’ degree in Developmental and Child Psychology in 2004.
She then completed her qualifying Clinical Psychology Doctorate from University of Sheffield.
Her extensive work in the NHS has enabled her to develop her specialist skills in working therapeutically with a range of clients. Lucy has had the opportunity to work in different services and different client groups, such as with children, with people with learning disabilities and mental health concerns, and in acute mental health adult services. She worked in Child and Adolescent Services (CAMHS) for eight years and this provided her with an in-depth understanding of working with families. She then worked in acute adult mental health services, in the community, and hospital settings.
Lucy has extensive experience working in and leading, developing and improving neurodevelopmental assessment services. She has a needs focussed approach and is committed to providing the best outcome for all clients.
Dr Charlotte Gaukroger
Clinical Psychologist
Charlotte is a qualified and HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with a number of years of clinical experience working with adults and young people individually, and with couples, families and in groups.
Charlotte has interests and expertise in working with people with a background of trauma and complex mental health difficulties including dissociation, self-injury and emotional dysregulation. She uses an integrative approach adapted to clients’ needs, informed by compassion focussed therapy, family therapy and systemic practice, psychodynamic approaches, and DBT.
Charlotte has additional training in assessing and working with neurodivergent individuals, and a PG Cert in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice.
Dr Poppy Siddell
Clinical Psychologist
Poppy is a qualified and HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience working with people experiencing difficulties with their mental health. She has experience working with people across the lifespan.
Poppy has expertise in working with children, young people and their families, as well as adults, who are experiencing mental health difficulties as a result of a physical health condition. This includes experiences of medical trauma, difficulties adapting to diagnoses, managing the emotional impact of ongoing medical intervention or processing diagnoses or conditions that may be life limiting. Drawing on approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Narrative Therapy, she tailors her work to each individual and family, helping them build upon their existing strengths, nurture connections, and move forward in ways that feel meaningful.
Dr Jannine Dowling
Clinical Psychologist
Jannine started her career working with vulnerable young people, before training as a psychologist. With over 15 years’ experience of working in the NHS, she now works as a consultant clinical psychologist. Jannine has a broad experience base, primarily focussing on adults with complex difficulties and trauma histories. She is particularly specialised in working with people who might attract a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’ or who have complex emotional needs. She has an interest in how neurodiversity overlaps with psychological distress.
Jannine offers a friendly, down-to-earth approach to help people make sense of their difficulties. Jannine’s training and experience has enabled her to be able to practice using a range of therapeutic models. Her work is integrative and flexible, offering bespoke therapy based on individual need. Additionally, she is trained in EMDR and is currently undergoing her qualification in Cognitive Analytical Therapy. In her personal life, she likes fast cars, cats and good food.
Dr Chloe Robinson
Clinical Psychologist
Since qualifying Chloe has worked with children and young people in the NHS within both a therapeutic intervention setting and neurodevelopmental assessment setting. She has over seven years’ experience of working in the NHS, and within this time has completed additional training in specialist therapeutic modalities such as EMDR and DDP.
Chloe prioritises creating a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship first and foremost within her work and values the importance of completing holistic formulations to fully understand a young person’s needs and that of their families.
Chloe particularly values Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches to therapeutic interventions, however she has extensive experience of using a range of therapeutic modalities, including CBT. Chloe always aims to adapt approaches and interventions to suit individual needs and preferences and is passionate about supporting others.
She is experienced in completing Autism and ADHD assessments and often delivers teaching and training to staff teams regarding neurodevelopmental conditions and neurodiversity.
Our Educational Psychologists
Dr Catrin Harrap
Educational Psychologist
Catrin has worked as an HCPC registered Educational and Child Psychologist for eight years. She has worked in several Local Authorities across England and Wales during her career and doctoral training. More recently, Catrin has worked independently as an associate, a locum and for a Yorkshire based multi-academy trust. She has extensive experience in working with children, young people and adults with additional learning needs in a range of educational settings, including mainstream and specialist settings.
Catrin has specialist training and expertise in a range of assessment techniques, which she uses to develop detailed and holistic ‘pictures’ of children and young people’s strengths and needs across all areas of development, including learning, language, social communication and emotional and mental health needs. Catrin is skilled at developing positive relationships with children, families and key professionals. She takes a person-centred approach and considers the environment around the individual so that she can best support others in working together to reach positive outcomes.
Catrin’s day-to-day professional activities include classroom/home observations, individual assessments, working through consultation with children, families and key adults in the educational setting and systemic work, such as delivering training to early years or school staff.
Dr Lucy Hatton
Educational Psychologist
Lucy is an Educational Psychologist and spends most of her time working as part of Local Authority Educational Psychology Services. She works in schools with teachers, children and their families, to support inclusion and identify how students can best be supported to enjoy and engage well with all aspects of school life. Lucy works with Mantle to support assessment processes and provide advice.
Away from work, she enjoys time with her husband, two children and dog. Lucy spends lots of time running as well as training in and teaching martial arts.
Dr Laura Griffiths
Educational Psychologist
Laura has been a practitioner Child and Educational Psychologist for the past seven years, primarily working for a Local Authority and more recently, independently as a Locum and for a small Academy Trust. Prior to training as an Educational Psychologist, Laura worked as a teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) in a large secondary school. Currently, Laura works across educational settings, both mainstream and specialist, working with staff, children and young people as well as their families using psychology to promote positive outcomes in all areas of a child/young person’s development.
Away from work, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, participating in a range of sporting activities.
Dr Rachel Cooper
Educational Psychologist
Rachel is an Educational Psychologist and primarily spends her time working for a local authority in their Educational Psychology Service. In this role, she works with children in a range of settings, including mainstream Primary and Secondary schools, as well as resource provisions, specialist settings and Pupil Referral Units.
She works with children and young people individually, spends time meeting with families and liaising with staff to work collaboratively to support positive change across all areas of child development.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and friends; she also loves to walk her dog, Olive.

Dr Kate Eden
Psychiatrist
Dr. Kate Eden is a compassionate and experienced Psychiatrist. After initially studying Traditional Chinese Medicine at Sheffield University, Kate expanded her expertise by studying medicine and eventually specializing in Psychiatry. With over ten years of experience working with adults in hospitals and the community, she is dedicated to helping individuals manage their symptoms effectively to ensure they stay out of hospital care whenever possible.
Kate has a deep passion for women’s mental health and neurodiversity, having personal experience with neurodiversity through her own ADHD diagnosis. This first hand experience allows her to empathize deeply with her clients and bring a holistic, well-rounded approach to her practice. Kate integrates elements from psychology and psychiatry to offer personalized care that considers each person’s unique life context and experiences.

Vikki Sullivan
Cognitive Analytic Therapist
Sian Kilcommons
Systemic and Family Psychotherapist
Sian has twenty-five years’ experience working in mental health, starting as an addictions counsellor and going on to deliver, establish, develop and manage third sector mental health services in Manchester, Bradford and Kirklees.
More recently Sian has worked in an adult mental health family therapy clinic in the NHS as well as specialising in gender-based violence and child to parent harm in an alternative CAMHS setting with children and young people who have experienced relational trauma. She has worked extensively around relational issues connected to trauma, abuse, addiction and mental health.
Sian also offers consultation to schools, the police, social workers and other professionals helping to create trauma informed contexts using a systemic lens and address issues like school-based avoidance. Her specialist family and couples’ psychotherapy training equips her to help families who may be struggling in their relationship, perhaps stuck in difficult, harmful or conflict-based communication patterns in finding new ways of being in relationship. Sian can work inter-generationally with families of all shapes and sizes, including queer and non-hetero-normative families and/or relationships.
Sian’s current work is within a specialist service for children and young people who have significant experiences of developmental trauma and traumatic grief as well as having additional neurodevelopmental needs and is committed to practising neurodiversity-affirming therapy.
Sophie Brown
Art Psychotherapist
Sophie is a qualified Art Psychotherapist with an MA in Art Psychotherapy (2017) and has been registered with the HCPC since then. She brings over seven and a half years of experience working within CAMHS, supporting young people facing a range of challenges including anxiety, depression, and complex trauma. Prior to this, Sophie worked with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) in a specialist school setting, as well as with adults in community mental health services in Bradford. She has additional training in therapeutic approaches such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), and CATT (Children’s Accelerated Trauma Therapy). Sophie is passionate about integrating these models into her art psychotherapy practice, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. She has a particular interest in supporting young people, both diagnosed and undiagnosed, with neurodevelopmental conditions to better understand and connect with themselves.

Kirsty Flerin
Occupational Therapist
Kirsty completed a MA from Aberdeen University specialising in Psychology and Sociology, then continued her studies and qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1995, gaining a BSc from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. She has particular interest in functional skills, roles, activity analysis, and developing a balanced and meaningful lifestyle.
Over the duration of her career in the NHS, she has worked in a variety of geographical and clinical areas, specialising in Mental Health from 1996 onwards. She has worked extensively with children and teens, working age adults and is currently working in a service for older adults experiencing acute mental health crisis. Her commitment to continuing professional development ensures she keeps up to date with the latest advances in Occupational Therapy and Mental Health, as well as other areas of interest within health and social care.
Our Speech and Language Therapists
Jane Handley
Speech and Language Therapist
Jane has a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Language Therapy and is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist. Jane has extensive experience working with children and young people of primary and secondary school age with a particular clinical interest in Neurodiversity, SEMH and Developmental language disorder. Jane’s approach is gentle and holistic, focusing on building a strong rapport with her clients in order to get a good understanding of their needs.
Outside of work Jane enjoys spending time with her children and walking her dogs in the countryside.
Dr Sara O’Mahony
Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Sara has worked as a specialist and highly specialist speech and language therapist for over 20 years, including work in various autism diagnostic with children of different ages. Prior to qualifying as a speech and language therapist, Sara worked as a qualified teacher, mostly with children with special educational needs.
Sara has numerous post graduate qualifications in autism interventions, a doctorate in early word learning in autism and is a certified Sensory Integration Practitioner.
Our Specialist Nurses
Chris Newton
ADHD Specialist Nurse
Chris is a Registered Nurse for individuals with learning disabilities. Prior to, and during, nurse training he worked in an SEN school. Since qualifying as a nurse in 2003 he has worked in various learning disability and mental health settings.
In 2015 he began working in CAMHS in various roles such as crisis work, therapeutic work and working with young people with learning disabilities. In 2021 he qualified as a non-medical prescriber specialising in ADHD. He has a special interest in young people who struggle to engage and/or have possible neuro-developmental conditions.
Lucy Lawton
Mental Health Nurse
Lucy has been a qualified nurse since 2006 and is currently working as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner. With a wealth of experience gained across various healthcare settings including neurodevelopmental assessment services, Lucy brings a comprehensive understanding of patient care and clinical assessment to her role. Lucy is passionate about holistic healthcare and supporting individuals through their journey.
Outside of work, Lucy enjoys spending time with her family and engaging in outdoor pursuits, which helps her maintain a healthy work-life balance and stay energized for her roles.
Nicola Guest
Paediatric Nurse
Nicola is a dedicated and compassionate paediatric nurse with a background in both acute and community care settings. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) degree from the University of Birmingham and started her career at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Driven by a passion for global health and community provision, Nicola has undertaken years of voluntary work overseas in East Africa and Southeast Asia, and in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with Médecins Sans Frontières.
After taking a career break to raise her three children Nicola transitioned to community nursing, working with children with learning disabilities and mental health needs. Nicola is committed to family-centred care, and is passionate about supporting and empowering families, providing them with the education, resources, and compassionate care they need to bring out the best in their children.
Beth Murphy
Mental Health Nurse
Beth is an experienced and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse who has been working in the field since qualifying in 2001. Over the years, she has gained extensive experience in a variety of roles, including working with complex care inpatients, supporting individuals within the community, and working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
With a broad and deep understanding of mental health conditions and their impact on individuals, Beth is particularly passionate about uncovering the root causes of her clients’ challenges. Her focus is on neurodevelopmental conditions and the broader context of mental health, ensuring that her approach is both thorough and holistic. Beth’s style is honest and empathetic. She is committed to seeing the individual as a whole, taking time to understand their unique circumstances, and finding effective ways to address the challenges they face. Her down-to-earth manner helps her build strong, trusting relationships with both clients and parents, ensuring that everyone feels heard and supported.
As a parent of four teenagers herself, Beth brings a personal understanding of the complexities of adolescence. She knows first-hand the challenges that both teenagers and their families face and is dedicated to providing parents with the insight and tools they need to better understand and support their children. Beth’s blend of professional expertise and personal experience makes her a trusted resource for both clients and their families.

Ellie Pyke
Senior Assistant Psychologist
Ellie has completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at York St John’s University. She has experience working with young people with neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism and ADHD in both an educational and clinical environment and previously worked in an SEN school. She has experience supporting individuals to effectively communicate their needs, thrive academically and promote positive well-being.
Ellie works as a senior assistant psychologist alongside other professionals, supporting individuals throughout the assessment process.
Ellie is committed to working with young people and adults who are neurodiverse, with a great interest in supporting them in overcoming the challenges they may be faced with and achieving their aspirations.
Jack Binns
Assistant Psychologist
Jack gained an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Advanced Psychology from the University of Leeds. As an Assistant Psychologist, Jack contributes to the undertaking of neurodevelopmental assessments and school observations for ADHD and Autism.
Jack’s career began in support work, assisting vulnerable individuals to regain independence after brain injuries, which shaped his compassionate, client-centred approach.
Driven by a passion for the field, Jack is focused on pursuing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology to make a lasting, positive impact on those he works with. He is particularly interested in understanding the complex ways in which early life experiences shape children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development, and the interventions that can be implemented to promote resilience and healthy development.
Yuliana Trynchuk
Assistant Psychologist
With a strong foundation in medicine and a particular interest in neurodevelopmental conditions, Yuliana brings a wealth of expertise to her role here at Mantle. Originally trained as a psychiatrist in Ukraine, she draws on her medical background to navigate the complexities of neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions. Yuliana’s experience as a clinical coordinator has provided valuable insight into the importance of a collaborative, team-based approach to care.
Believing that effective communication is essential to building trust and rapport, Yuliana strives to ensure that clients feel heard and supported throughout their journey. In her work, she is committed to delivering thorough and compassionate assessments, with the goal of supporting individuals and families through the diagnostic process and guiding them toward the right support and services.

Amy McGowan
Specialist Educational Needs Consultant
Amy completed her undergraduate degree at Huddersfield University in Psychology and further completed her PGCE and worked as a teacher in specialist settings for children with SEMH for 10 years.
Amy then trained as a SENCo and continued to work in a specialist setting supporting children with all areas of SEND – including Autism, ADHD, learning delays and SEMH. Amy currently works as a specialist teacher for a local authority, supporting children with additional needs to thrive in mainstream school and her main focus is supporting staff members to understand the needs of the children and upskill them to embed strategies to meet their needs with the main goal for children to be happy, engaged and enjoy time in school.
Cathy Czauderna
Specialist Educational Needs Consultant
Cathy graduated with a BSc (Hons) Psychology from Northumbria University in 2005. She has worked in a variety of educational provisions including mainstream schools, alternative provisions and in Local Authority and NHS support agencies.
In 2021, Cathy became a Trauma and Mentally Healthy Informed Schools Practitioner and is currently completing an MSc in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies.
Cathy is passionate about identifying and using children and young people’s strengths to promote positive change. She enjoys working together in a team to develop effective support plans that meet children and young people’s individual needs and enable them to lead happy, healthy and meaningful lives. Cathy uses a person-centred approach in her work and is a strong advocate for Trauma Informed Practice in schools.
Helen Roberts
Specialist Educational Needs Consultant
Helen is an advisory teacher and has worked with WISENDSS (Wakefield council) for 10 years. Prior to this, she worked within mainstream primary education first as a class teacher, before exploring her interest in supporting SEN children, further working both as SENDCO and Inclusion Manager for many years.
During this time she also held the role as a Leading SENDCO in the Wakefield district (supporting SENDCOs in schools) and completed secondment with the former Learning Support Service to enhance my knowledge further.
Helen has a strong interest in supporting pupils with social communication needs through the provision of good quality wave one teaching, alongside appropriate nurturing interventions.
Key aspects of Helen’s role include working closely with SENDCOs and teaching staff to support them on how best to meet the needs of all children within their setting. Helen often observes children and advises on strategies to support and include them within the mainstream classroom. Helen frequently provides training around children’s needs and offer coaching on specific interventions that have been advised.
Helen has delivered training to both parents and professionals on a range of topics and interventions in the past including delivering the Cygnets parents programme and is also a registered trainer for the Autism Education Trust.

Samuel Hughes
Managing Director
Sam is a company director who brings over twenty years of experience to the business, leading large operational teams and delivering commercial sales and outcomes across multiple commercial sectors. Sam’s skills cover business strategy, operational management, consulting, asset strategy, sales and bids, client management, financial performance and change management.
Within Mantle Psychology, Sam ensures the delivery of our core business values including promoting quality and performance and, most importantly, keeping Mantle Psychology a fun place to work and a calm environment for our service users.
Franki Prescott
Service Manager
Franki has completed a Bsc in Criminology and Psychology and has an ongoing interest in Psychology and providing services that help people. She has worked in client service and managerial roles for over ten years including voluntary roles within Domestic Abuse Charities.
Her clients service roles have taken her across the UK, working with clients from Europe and the Middle East to living and working in New Zealand with clients across Australia, Southeast Asia and the USA.
Franki is committed to understanding our clients needs and providing the best service to meet those needs, building relationships, implementing efficient processes, and ensuring continual development and improvement of our service.
Shoni Gale
Clinic Manager and Continuous Improvement Lead
With a blend of creativity and precision, Shoni keeps our Holmfirth clinic running smoothly. She’s passionate about delivering high-quality client care and excels at streamlining processes to ensure everything operates efficiently behind the scenes.
Shoni has a wealth of experience working with small businesses on improving their systems and processes, which is an assett she has now brought to the Mantle Psychology team. Her methodical approach helps us at Mantle Psychology to provide the best possible experience for every client.
Sophie Root
Service Co-ordinator, Sustainability Ambassador and Marketing Lead
With a background in Fine Art and a strong eye for visual communication, Sophie brings a creative and strategic approach to our social media and marketing. As the Social Media & Marketing Lead, she manages content creation, brand strategy, and client communications—ensuring every message aligns with the company’s voice and values. Sophie is passionate about building authentic connections—both online and in the real world—while helping Mantle grow with integrity and impact.
With a strong background in sustainability and climate education, Sophie also serves as Mantle’s Sustainability Ambassador, leading initiatives that promote environmentally conscious practices across the business. Her work is helping to embed sustainability at the heart of the company’s culture—positioning it for long-term positive impact and future resilience in a changing world.
Holly Knapp
Service Co-ordinator
Before becoming a Service Co-ordinator, Holly gained valuable experience working on the clinical side of an autism diagnosis team as a support worker, as well as also having worked as a supply teaching assistant. These roles helped her develop a compassionate, person-centred approach to working with children, families, and professionals.
Holly holds an undergraduate degree in Education with Psychology and Counselling, and a Master’s in Developmental Psychology, both from Sheffield Hallam University. Her academic background has provided her with a deep understanding of human development, learning, and mental health – foundations that inspire her commitment to supporting others.
Holly is passionate about helping people access the right support at the right time. She takes pride in being methodical and detail-oriented, recognising that clear organisation and strong attention to detail are essential to ensuring services run smoothly and effectively meet the needs of those we support.

We have two clinics offering therapy, assessments and training in West Yorkshire and the Peak District.
Holmfirth
We are based on Daisy Lane, across from the bus station and behind Harvey’s Bar & Kitchen in central Holmfirth. There are three car parks in close proximity to us, please navigate to one of these and then take a short walk to clinic.

We are based at Hathersage Business Park, Heather Lane in Hathersage. Heather lane runs parallel to the trainline and can be found at the end of Station Approach, just after the Train station car park entrance. We are located halfway down on the left-hand side.
